The challenge
A/L past papers are scattered across blogs and file-sharing links, often mislabelled and rarely available in all three exam mediums. Students study on inexpensive phones and metered mobile data, frequently with no usable connection at all. The platform had to serve a nationwide audience through sharp exam-season demand, keep running costs low, and stay genuinely useful offline.
Our approach
We designed the platform around how students actually study — on modest hardware, on expensive or unreliable data, and often with no signal at all. That constraint shaped the whole product: the app stays fully usable without a connection, downloads are light on mobile data, and the site holds up when exam-season demand spikes. We delivered every part of it, from the student-facing app and website through to the content pipeline and the moderation tooling behind them.

What sets it apart
What the platform does for the students who rely on it.
Usable with no connection
Students browse, search and read their saved papers with no signal at all. A dropped connection mid-revision doesn't interrupt anything — the library is already on the device.
Kind to metered data
Mobile data is a real cost for the audience. Content is fetched once and reused, so day-to-day study adds little to a student's bill and repeat visits are effectively free.
Holds up through exam season
Demand is sharply seasonal, spiking around exam dates. The platform is designed so those surges are absorbed rather than felt, and so pressure on one part of it can't degrade the others.
Trilingual by default
Every subject is organised across Sinhala, English and Tamil mediums, covering 62 subjects and all A/L streams — so students find material in the language they sit the exam in.
Content moderation workflow
An internal console gives moderators a scoped review queue with issue flags and correction tools. Every change is recorded against the person who made it, so content edits stay traceable.
Monitored, backed up, recoverable
Failures raise an alert within minutes. Backups run automatically and recovery follows a written, tested procedure — so an incident is a known drill, not an improvisation.
